Spring can be a particularly difficult time for hayfever sufferers (me included) but organic herbal expert, Pukka Herbs, believes the symptoms can be avoided with the use of natural remedies.
I’m going to give their recommendations a try, as every summer I seem to find myself with a collection of boxes and bottles of product claiming a cure and some of the vessels cannot be easily recycled; this year, it’s time to see how much Mother Nature can do for me.
Here’s some additional advice from Pukka’s herbal director, Sebastian Pole. “If our digestion becomes impaired, we cannot absorb and metabolise what we are putting into ourselves. This can create a toxic overload that coats our mucus membranes and obstructs the free flow of air, resulting in hayfever symptoms. Congestion, sneezing, itchiness, heavy head and difficulty in breathing are particularly common.
A good way to treat allergies is to strengthen your digestion by avoiding foods such as dairy, refined sugar and wheat, all of which cause congestion. In addition, Pukka Herbs has a range of natural organic products to tackle the root cause of hayfever.
To avoid irritating hayfever symptoms, Pukka’s Peppermint & Pippali Formula, a special blend of herbs with specific anti-histamine and anti-allergenic properties, can be used without the side effects of drowsiness normally associated with anti-histamines.
To clear toxins and congestion from the head use Organic Nasya Nasal Oil, which also coats the lining of the nasal passage and prevents pollen contact.
A natural way to cleanse your liver and help reduce allergic response from the immune system is to drink Organic Aloe Vera Juice. Pukka’s Aloe Vera Juice is a premium product which uses only the inner leaf gel and contains no synthetic preservatives such as sodium benzoate which is often a causative factor in allergies
Finally, drinking Refresh Tea, a delicious blend of organic peppermint, liquorice and rose, or Three Mint Tea, a flavoursome mix of peppermint leaf, spearmint leaf and fieldmint leaf, can help to alleviate hayfever symptoms. Peppermint is renowned for clearing congestion and helping to reduce sneezing, itching and wheezing. “
Selected lines are stocked by leading retailers and many high street health stores. The complete range is available online at www.pukkaherbs.com.
Rubbishly yours,

I’ve never heard of that treatment before, but sounds interesting, thanks – will suggest it to my friends who are currently suffering with their hayfever!
I personally use the medinose for my allergies, it’s been a lifesaver for me, but is rather expensive compared to antihistimines (and your pukka oil is probably cheaper too).
Still, natural allergy cures are the best if they work and are affordable… I hate that drowsy feeling I get after taking antihistimines.
Hi Clare – lovely to hear from you and I haven’t tried medinose?….what is it, is it a natural product? I wonder if it’s got a website….lol….am off to investigate!
All the best,
TS
